• Descrição: For-Met-Ala-Ser-OH is a substrate binding inhibitor that binds to an enzyme complex, inhibiting its activity. It has been shown to bind to the drug target, in this case the enzyme complexes. For-Met-Ala-Ser-OH inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Cryptococcus neoformans and has been shown to be active against mammalian cells. The inhibition of these bacteria is due to the formation of formyl group which is toxic for these cells. For-Met-Ala-Ser-OH also inhibits mammalian cells by binding with metal ions such as zinc or nickel. The efficiency of For-Met-Ala-Ser OH varies depending on the type of metal ion used and it potentiates other antimicrobial agents when used in conjunction with them.
