(2S,4R)-4-Fluoro-pyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid is a synthetic molecule that has been shown to inhibit the biosynthesis of collagen. It has also been found to have antimicrobial properties and an ability to prevent Gram-negative bacterial infections by inhibiting the synthesis of bioactive molecules. The chemical stability of (2S,4R)-4-fluoropyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid makes it suitable for in vitro studies and as a precursor for other compounds. This compound can be prepared through asymmetric synthesis with gramicidin or chloromethyl ketone as starting materials.
