Descrição:2-Fluoro-4-methoxybenzaldehyde (2FMBA) is a chalcone that can be synthesized in an asymmetric synthesis. 2FMBA reacts to form an alkylating agent with nucleophilic character and is used as a putative target for cancer cell inhibition. The reaction time for this compound is relatively short, and it has been shown to inhibit the growth of mycobacteria. This compound inhibits the activity of acid catalyzed hydroxybenzaldehydes, which are involved in the biosynthesis of polyketides. 2FMBA also has antimycobacterial activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains and Mycobacterium avium complex. 2FMBA may react with naphthalene to produce 4-methoxybenzaldehyde (4MBA), an intermediate in the synthesis of imidazole drugs such as sulfadiazine, which are used in the treatment of infections
