2-Fluoro-6-iodobenzoic acid is a compound that is used as a starting material to synthesize 2-amino-6-fluorobenzoic acid. This compound has been shown to have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus, and can be used in the production of pharmaceuticals. 2-Fluoro-6-iodobenzoic acid reacts spontaneously with chlorides to form 2,4,5,6-tetrafluorobenzoyl chloride. The latter reacts with phthalimide in the presence of butyllithium to form 2-(2,4,5,6-tetrafluorophenyl)benzoyl chloride. This compound is then iodinated by reacting with iodine and potassium iodide to produce 2-[2-(2,4,5,6 tetrafluorophenyl)benzoyl]benzoic acid. Finally this compound is
