4-Fluoro-2-(trifluoromethyl)benzoylchloride is a molecule that is used in the synthesis of many different organic compounds. It can be used as an intermediate for cross-coupling reactions, such as Suzuki coupling and reductive amination. 4-Fluoro-2-(trifluoromethyl)benzoylchloride also has been shown to have signalling activity in worms. This molecule reacts with ammonium formate to produce 2-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid and hydrogen gas. The compound is operational at room temperature, but yields are low due to the need for an inorganic base.
