- Fmoc-O-tert-butyl-D-?-homotyrosine
Fmoc-b-D-HoTyr(tBu)-OH is an analog of histone octamer fatty acid. This compound has been shown to be an enhancer of membrane interactions, which may be due to its ability to affect the acyl chain of phospholipids and hence change the physical properties of the lipid bilayer. Fmoc-b-D-HoTyr(tBu)-OH has been shown to increase the absorption of DNA by mammalian cells in vitro, and may also inhibit chromatin condensation in these cells. It is a potent enhancer for chromodomain proteins found in hepg2 cells, which are cancer cells that contain high levels of methylated histones. Fmoc-b-D-HoTyr(tBu)-OH has been shown to have hemolytic activity, which is likely due to its role as a blood cell surface receptor.
