2-Fluoro-6-hydroxyacetophenone is an androgen receptor antagonist that has been shown to be a potent competitive inhibitor of the androgen receptor. It is structurally similar to benzoyl, which is a natural flavonoid found in plants. 2-Fluoro-6-hydroxyacetophenone has been shown to inhibit androgen receptor mediated responses by competitively binding to the androgen receptor, blocking its ability to bind with androgens. 2-Fluoro-6-hydroxyacetophenone may have potential as an antiandrogen for the treatment of prostate cancer, although more research is needed.
