Descrição:Fluoroethyne is a fluorinated hydrocarbon molecule. The structure of fluoroethyne was determined by X-ray crystallography and was found to be very similar to that of ethyne, with the major difference being the presence of a fluorine atom in place of an hydrogen atom. Fluoroethyne has been observed in the gas phase, but it is not stable at room temperature and decomposes rapidly into hydrogen fluoride and phosphorus pentoxide. Fluoroethyne can be produced from ethyne by reaction with hydrogen fluoride or phosphorus pentoxide at low energy. This compound has been used as a model system to study the stability of molecules containing fluorine atoms.
