Descrição:2-Fluoroformycin is a cytotoxic drug that inhibits the enzyme adenosine deaminase, which is involved in the biosynthesis of nucleosides. This drug has been shown to have potent cytotoxic activity against cultured cell lines and tumour cells in vivo. 2-Fluoroformycin binds to the active site of adenosine deaminase and prevents it from functioning. The target cells for this drug are those that contain the enzyme, such as lymphocytes, bone marrow cells, and certain tumours. 2-Fluoroformycin shows a high degree of selectivity for these targets due to its affinity for the active site of adenosine deaminase.
