3-Fluoro-D-Tyrosine is a nonessential amino acid that is synthesized from chorismate. It is produced in the bacterium subtilis, and has been shown to have dehydrogenase activities that are quadratic, biomolecular, and membrane-bound. 3-Fluoro-D-Tyrosine also interacts with membranes and can be used as a probe for studying the biosynthesis of amino acids. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by interacting with their ribosomes. 3-Fluoro-D-Tyrosine is biosynthesized by a nonlinear hyperbolic process, which leads to an increase in concentration of this amino acid under certain conditions.
