4-Fluoro-N-methylbenzamide is a compound that can be used in the synthesis of isocoumarins and isoquinolones. It reacts with a variety of functional groups, such as alcohols, amines, carboxylic acids, and thiols. 4-Fluoro-N-methylbenzamide has been shown to undergo oxidative ring closure reactions in which it forms cyclopropane and connectivities. This compound can also be used for the synthesis of annulated products by using an appropriate metal catalyst. The yields of these reactions are high and the regioselectivity is controlled by the substitution pattern on the benzene ring. 4-Fluoro-N-methylbenzamide has been synthesized via x-ray diffraction analysis of its crystal structure.
