1-Fluoro-2-nitrocyclohexane is a cyclohexylamine that has been stabilized by the addition of a fluoro group to one of its carbons. It is an intermediate in the synthesis of other benzenoid compounds and can be used as a starting material for the preparation of aliphatic compounds, such as cyclohexane, or cyclohexadienyl. The reaction between 1-fluoro-2-nitrocyclohexane and benzene produces two different stereoisomers: cis and trans. The cis isomer predominates over the trans isomer. The equations below show the reactions involved in this process.
