5-Fluoro-1H-indazol-3-amine is a heterocyclic compound that belongs to the group of indazoles. The mechanism of action for 5FIA is thought to involve interactions with functional groups on the bacterial cell wall, such as lipids, proteins, and polysaccharides. FTIR spectroscopy revealed that 5FIA reacts with hydroxyl groups on the cell wall surface through an acid catalysis mechanism. This reaction produces carboxylic acids or esters as byproducts.
