• Descrição: 1-(4-Fluorophenyl)-1,3-Butanedione is a potent anticancer agent that has been synthesized and structurally characterized. It binds to DNA and inhibits the formation of the G-quadruplex structure. The interaction constant (K) is determined by the dilution of 1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1,3-butanedione with a known concentration of DNA, which is then titrated with 1.0 M NaOH until all the G-quadruplexes are disrupted. The K value for 1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1,3-butanedione was found to be 0.06 ± 0.02 mM at pH 7.2. The thermodynamic constant (K) can be determined from the equation K = ΔH/ΔS. For 1-(4-fluorophenyl)-1,3-butanedione it was found to be -735 ± 45 kJ mol
