2-(Fluoro-18F)-5-Methoxy-L-Tyrosine is an analog of L-tyrosine that has been shown to be a potential radiotracer for PET imaging of dopamine. It was found to have a high binding affinity for D2 receptors in the occipital cortex. 2-(Fluoro-18F)-5-Methoxy-L-Tyrosine has also been found to be a substrate for catechol O methyltransferase, which converts it into L-DOPA. The uptake of 2-(Fluoro-18F)-5-Methoxy-L-Tyrosine by the enzyme inhibitor haloperidol was monitored in humans and found to be constant over time.
