(1R,2S)-2-(4-Fluorophenyl)Cyclopropanamine is a selective 5-HT2 receptor antagonist. It has been shown that this drug blocks the effects of 5-HT at the receptors in rat brain tissue. (1R,2S)-2-(4-Fluorophenyl)Cyclopropanamine has also been found to block dopamine uptake in rat brain tissue. This drug also inhibits the activity of monoamine oxidases and amine oxidases. The inhibitory effect on these enzymes leads to increased concentrations of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain, which may contribute to its antidepressant effects.
