1-[(4-Fluorobenzoyl)oxy]-2,5-pyrrolidinedione (FBPO) is a chemical that is used as an antimicrobial agent. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity against intestinal bacteria and bowel disease. FBPO has been shown to be effective when combined with dopamine in vitro. This drug also inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), IL-1β, IL-6, and IL-8 by activating toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2). This drug also has high affinity for antibodies and can bind to polymerase chain reaction products, which may lead to autoimmune diseases or infectious diseases.
