7-Fluoro-4-(diethylamino-1-methylbutylamino)quinoline is a fluorine substituted nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonist that has been shown to be an effective control agent for the treatment of influenza virus and other infectious diseases. 7-Fluoro-4-(diethylamino-1-methylbutylamino)quinoline is not active against bacteria resistant to antibiotics, such as methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The drug has also been shown to inhibit HDAC activity in vitro. This inhibition leads to an increase in histone acetylation and results in increased expression of genes involved in inflammation and cell cycle regulation.
