Amitrole is a chemical compound that is used as an herbicide and miticide. It has been shown to be effective in the diagnosis of arylesterase, aerobic transport, water solubility and hydrolysis. Amitrole is not soluble in nonpolar solvents and cannot be detected by most polar solvent tests for amines or amides. Amitrole is also not metabolized by any known metabolic enzymes in humans or animals. Amitrole can be used to diagnose cirrhosis of the liver because it is found in increased concentrations in the urine of patients with this condition.
