4-Fluoro-3-(1-Hydroxy-2-Methylaminoethyl)Phenol oxalate is a pharmacological agent that binds to the alpha 2 adrenergic receptor. It has been used in the diagnosis of diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases, as well as for treatment of chronic pain. 4-Fluoro-3-(1-Hydroxy-2-Methylaminoethyl)Phenol oxalate is also an agonist at the alpha 2 adrenergic receptor, which causes a potentiation of the effects of phenylephrine on cardiac function and peripheral vascular resistance. This drug also has binding affinity for amine receptors, which leads to increased levels of adenylate cyclase activity, thereby increasing cAMP levels in cells.
