Veledimex is a racemic mixture of two enantiomers, S- and R-veledimex. It is used as a research tool in the study of ion channels and protein interactions. Veledimex binds to the receptor site of ligand-gated ion channels, which are membrane proteins that regulate the flow of ions across the cell membrane. The binding of this drug to these receptors activates the channel or inhibits it, which can lead to changes in neuronal excitation and inhibition.
