Glutaronitrile is a diamine tetraacetic acid (DTA) analog that contains nitrogen atoms. DTA analogs are protonated by the addition of a proton and an electron, which leads to an increase in their stability. The protonation process is reversible. Glutaronitrile has been shown to have a logistic regression with clinical relevance for allergic reactions. Glutaronitrile also has chemical stability and transport properties, as well as hydrogen bonds. These properties make it suitable for use as a model system for ethylene diamine in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy studies.
