Germanium(II) bromide is a compound that is synthesized artificially. It has been shown to be a potent activator of water molecules. Germanium(II) bromide reacts with water to produce hydrogen gas, which can be used as a fuel source. Synthesis of this compound requires a high activation energy and the reaction may not occur at all if the concentration of water molecules is too low or too high.
