L-glutamic acid dimethyl ester hydrochloride is a chemical compound that forms an amide with sodium carbonate. This product is used as a buffering agent and has been shown to have anticancer properties. It has been shown to cause cell lysis and enhance the cytotoxicity of pemetrexed in cell culture assays. L-glutamic acid dimethyl ester hydrochloride has also been shown to increase the efficacy of chemotherapy treatments for solid tumours by decreasing energy metabolism and cellular transformation, which may be due to its ability to inhibit glutamine synthetase activity.
