N-glycyl-L-Isoleucine is a molecule that belongs to the group of proline-containing dipeptides. It has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase production in tissue cultures. In addition, this compound inhibits the synthesis of collagen, which is a key component of connective tissue. N-glycyl-L-Isoleucine also inhibits the uptake and degradation of wild type bacteria by phagocytic cells and enhances the biochemical pathways that break down proteins. This molecule has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against typhimurium and other wild type strains. N-glycyl-L-Isoleucine can be used as an adjuvant for vaccine formulations against infectious diseases.
