Descrição:Glochidone is a natural triterpenoid that belongs to the group of growth regulators. It was first isolated from the bark of the African tree Glochidion africanum. This compound has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects in animals and an antitumour effect on some cancer cell lines in vitro. Furthermore, it has been shown to inhibit cholinesterase activity, which may lead to an increase in acetylcholine at synapses and reduce neuronal damage due to Alzheimer's disease. Glochidone has also been found to have antinociceptive properties and its inhibition of mitochondrial membrane potential may be responsible for these effects.
