It is a fluorescent compound with an absorption maximum at 395 nm and emission maximum at 420 nm. The chemical structure of 8-geranyloxy-5,7-dimethoxycoumarin has been determined by spectroscopic analysis. The chemical structure consists of an oxygenated benzene ring with two methoxy groups attached to the carbons adjacent to the hydroxyl group on the benzene ring. A double bond can be seen between carbons 5 and 6 in the molecule.
