- N-[(benzyloxy)carbonyl]glycylglycylglycylglycine
Glycine is an amino acid that is used in the synthesis of proteins. This compound can be obtained by reductive cleavage of azoalkenes with metal ions. Glycine has been shown to have antibacterial and antifungal activities. The antibacterial activity is due to inhibiting enzymes such as bacterial dna gyrase and dna topoisomerase, which are involved in the replication process. Glycine also has antifungal activity, which is due to inhibiting aldehyde oxidase, an enzyme involved in the production of aldehydes from glucose.
