H-Gln(Trt)-2-Chlorotrityl Resin is used to study the structure of membrane proteins. It is a synthetic polymer that consists of two p-chlorotrityl groups and two H-gln(trt) groups attached to a polystyrene backbone. H-Gln(Trt)-2-Chlorotrityl Resin is used in efflux studies with caco-2 cells, which are cells that line the small intestine and colon. This resin has also been shown to have neuroprotective properties, as it prevents neuronal death by permeating the cell membrane and maintaining ionic balance. The permeability of this resin for different drug molecules was examined using simulations on a computer model of a caco-2 monolayer (a layer of cells grown on the surface of a porous membrane).
