Descrição:1,3-Hexadiene is a cyclopentadienyl that is used in the production of polymers and plastics. It is produced by the reaction of n-hexane with solid-phase synthesis. The reaction mechanism involves the formation of an activated complex, which then reacts with styrene. This produces a c-h bond between two carbons, which can be converted to a double bond by adding one proton and electron to each carbon. The kinetic studies show that activation energy for this process is 42 kJ/mol. Functional theory predicts that 1,3-hexadiene will react with an electron donor such as methanol or ethanol to produce methylcyclohexane or ethylcyclohexane respectively.
