It can be found in the plant species "Anigozanthos manglesii". 3-(2-Hydroxy-1-naphthyl)propanenitrile has been shown to have antibiotic and antifungal properties, as well as anabolic activity. It also has been found to inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria such as staphylococcus, streptococcus, and enterococcus. 3-(2-Hydroxy-1-naphthyl)propanenitrile is metabolized by epoxidation, dehydrogenation, and phenylmagnesium reduction. This substance is also used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.
