(2R,3R,4S,5R)-2-(6-((2-Hydroxyethyl)amino)-9H-purin-9-yl)-5-(hydroxymethyl)tetrahydrofuran-3,4-diol (also known as 6-(2-(2'-hydroxyethoxy)ethylamino)-9H-purin-9-ol or Adoxostat), is an organic compound that belongs to the family of purine analogues. It is a potent antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties. The compound inhibits the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by scavenging free radicals and by inhibiting the activity of enzymes involved in ROS production. The compound also stimulates the production of growth factors and prevents apoptosis. Adoxostat has been shown to be effective in both biochemical and animal studies.
