(R)-N-(1-Hydroxypropan-2-yl)oleamide is a fatty acid that regulates the release of dopamine in the brain. It is a medication used to treat conditions such as Parkinson's disease, Tourette syndrome, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The mechanism of action for (R)-N-(1-hydroxypropan-2-yl)oleamide is not known. However, it has been shown to have a dopaminergic effect on the tegmentum region of the brain by binding to nuclear receptors. This drug also has an anesthetic effect on squirrels when administered intraperitoneally. It has been suggested that this drug may be acting as an endogenous substance in humans because it is found in various tissues and organs throughout the body.
