His-pro-amide is a reactive amide, which is an intermediate in the metabolic pathway of histidine. It can be formed by condensation of histidine with proline and amine groups. His-pro-amide is found in rat brain and has been shown to stimulate the release of thyrotropin. This compound also stimulates the release of hormones, such as corticosterone, from animals and has been shown to be effective in humans. His-pro-amide is not active as a substrate for hplc methods.
