Descrição:2-Hydroxyindole (2HI) is a potent antitumor agent that has been shown to inhibit the growth of prostate cancer cells. It binds to response elements and inhibits the production of growth factors, which are responsible for cell proliferation. 2HI also inhibits cancer cell proliferation by binding to the hydroxyl group on the aromatic ring and preventing DNA synthesis. The drug has been shown to be active against both basic fibroblast and activated T lymphocytes in vitro. 2-Hydroxyindole is an asymmetric synthesis with an activity index of 1.0, meaning it is equally potent in either direction of synthesis.
