2-(2-Hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)benzotriazole (2HMBT) is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of hydroxyphenylbenzotriazoles. 2HMBT has been shown to have antioxidant and skin cancer inhibitory effects. The chemical is stable in aqueous solution, but decomposes under acidic conditions. 2HMBT can be prepared by reacting 4-dimethylaminobenzoic acid with picolinic acid in the presence of nitrogen atoms.
