Descrição:Nicomol is a drug that belongs to the class of dextran sulfates. It is used in the treatment of cardiac disorders, including angina pectoris, congestive heart failure, and myocardial infarction. Nicomol also has hypoglycemic activity and can be useful for treating metabolic disorders. Nicomol is administered intravenously and has been shown to increase the uptake of glucose by the body, which may be due to its ability to inhibit potassium dichromate-induced protein gene expression in heart tissue. The drug also promotes mitochondrial function by increasing fatty acid oxidation and reducing fat cell size.
