Nitrobenzene is a chemical compound that is an aromatic nitro compound. It is a yellow or brown liquid at room temperature, with an unpleasant odor and a characteristic yellow color. Nitrobenzene has been shown to have antioxidant activity in the form of its ability to quench reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inhibit lipid peroxidation. It also has been shown to exhibit antioxidant activity in vivo, as it prevents lipid peroxidation in rats by preventing the oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Nitrobenzene can be used as an antioxidant additive for plastics, paints, and rubber products.
