• Descrição: Hydroxythiohomo sildenafil is a pharmaceutical drug that belongs to the class of PDE-5 inhibitors. It is a metabolite of sildenafil and has been shown to have similar effects as its parent compound, but with improved absorption. This drug inhibits the breakdown of cGMP by phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) in the corpus cavernosum, leading to an increase in penile erection. Hydroxythiohomo sildenafil has been shown to improve erectile function in people with diabetes mellitus and appears to be effective for treating erectile dysfunction. Hydroxythiohomo sildenafil is currently under development for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.
