Meso-hydrobenzoin is a skeletal hydroxy acid with the chemical formula C6H5O2. It can be made by thermal isomerization of naphthalene. Meso-hydrobenzoin belongs to group P2 in the Fischer projection and has a herringbone structure. It is an organic compound that has two hydroxy groups and one chloride group, which are all on the same side of the molecule. Meso-hydrobenzoin can be used in organic synthesis to synthesize a variety of compounds through acylation reactions.
