4-Hydroxybutane-1-sulfonic acid (4HBS) is a small molecule antibiotic that has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative bacteria. 4HBS has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. 4HBS has also been found to have a role in the normalization of reaction time in labile samples. This compound is stable under autoclave conditions and can be used for clinical applications.
