N-Heptylboronic acid is a polyvinyl ester that contains a trimerization group, which is an alkynyl group with three hydroxyl groups. This compound has been shown to be a substrate for cholesterol esterase and pancreatic enzymes. It also has optical properties that depend on the degree of dehydration. The melting point is around 155°C and it has an average particle diameter of 0.2 microns. N-Heptylboronic acid can be used as a boron reagent for organic synthesis because of its functional groups, such as hydroxyl and citric groups.
