1H,1H-Heptadecafluoro-1-nonanol is a gaseous molecule that has been produced by reacting hexane with the pyridinium salt of 1,2,3,4,5-pentafluorobenzene. It is resistant to degradation and has shown to be an effective antimicrobial against Gram-negative bacteria. The red blood cells have shown no adverse effects from exposure to this compound and it has also been used as a polymer film for antibiotic resistance. This reaction vessel is not soluble in water but can be dissolved in organic solvents such as hexane or carbon tetrachloride.
