4-Hexyloxyphenol is a phenolic compound that has been shown to inhibit tyrosinase activity. The inhibition of tyrosinase by 4-hexyloxyphenol is due to the formation of hydrogen bonds with the hydroxyl groups on the enzyme’s active site, which prevents substrates from binding. 4-Hexyloxyphenol has minimal toxicity and is not carcinogenic or genotoxic. The optical properties of 4-hexyloxyphenol are determined by its isomeric mixture, with a melting point range of about 120 degrees Celsius. This compound can be identified using NMR spectroscopy at 1.5 ppm and by electron microscopy at about 2 nm in diameter. 4-Hexyloxyphenol also has P450 enzyme activity, which can be inhibited by organic solvents such as chloroform and acetone.
