4-Heptylaniline is a mesomorphic compound that is liquid at room temperature but crystallizes at 4°C. It has a melting point of -21°C and a boiling point of 188°C. 4-Heptylaniline has been shown to have optical properties, as it fluoresces in the near-ultraviolet region. 4-Heptylaniline can be used as an intermediate for the production of 2,4-dichlorobenzoic acid or anilines.
