Descrição:6-Hydroxyindazole is a drug available for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. It has been shown to be neuroprotective and in animal studies it has been shown to reduce the levels of dopamine-β-hydroxylase and tyrosine hydroxylase in the brain. 6-Hydroxyindazole also protects against aluminium toxicity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the formation of nitric oxide. This drug is used in dyestuffs as a reducing agent, but can also produce toxic effects by attacking metal ions such as copper and zinc.
