It is used as a chemical intermediate in the production of other chemicals such as 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid, which can be used to synthesize pharmaceuticals. In addition, 3'-hydroxyacetophenone has been found to be an effective fungicide against Fusarium oxysporum f. This compound also has optical properties that are dependent on its tautomeric form and copper salt.
