Hexafluoro arsenate silver (HFA) is a coordination complex that has been used as a substrate for the growth of thin films. It is composed of a film of silver ions on hexafluoro-arsenate molecules. The nmr spectra of HFA have revealed three resonances, which correspond to the three phosphorus atoms in the molecule. These resonances are sometimes obscured by nitrogen atoms and chemical analyses. HFA is soluble in hydrogen fluoride, chloride, and inorganic acid at room temperature. FT-IR spectroscopy has shown that HFA belongs to group p2 and has an aliphatic hydrocarbon structure with a phosphorus pentachloride core.
