SB-224289 provides evidence that 5-HT1A receptors are involved in carcinoid syndrome and can predict the development of carcinoid syndrome based on their binding affinity for this drug. It has been shown that SB-224289 does not bind to any other receptors, such as dopamine D2 or serotonin S2a receptors.
