2-Isopropylpyridine is a nitrogen-containing organic compound that has been shown to be an inhibitor of the enzyme histone deacetylase. It is also a macrocyclic inhibitor and has been shown to have high resistance against chemical ionization, which is a technique used in mass spectrometry. 2-Isopropylpyridine interacts with the hydroxyl group of bromodomains, which are involved in inflammatory diseases and cancer. This interaction leads to the inhibition of protein function by preventing the release of proinflammatory cytokines or growth factors. 2-Isopropylpyridine inhibits mineralocorticoid receptors, which may lead to its use as an anti-inflammatory drug.
